Spinner
Spinner's real name is Steve Pinner, S. Pinner - which is how he got his nickname. He is smart and clever, but also fun. He lives in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. He loves being outdoors, and he goes fishing every chance he gets.

Spinner is resourceful and calm under pressure; he sees solutions and can execute a plan. He likes to research, and he likes cool gadgets.

He has a special Fishing Notebook that he takes along with him whenever he goes fishing. His dad gave him the notebook one Christmas, and he uses it to write down all the fishing facts and tips that he learns from his dad and his grandpa, The Chief.

Spinner is a kid who likes to figure things out. Along the way, he learns some important lessons about safety, sportsmanship, field craft, fishing skills, and geography.

Bobber
Bobber is Spinner's best friend and fishing buddy. His real name is Bobby Ernst, but The Chief gave him the nickname Bobber because he's sort of short and plump, and always wears a red and white shirt (like a fishing bobber).
He is laid-back and goofy, impulsive and sometimes messy. He's also pretty funny and likes to blurt out whatever is on his mind.

Bobber likes to play an occasional practical joke. Most of the time Bobber's practical jokes are harmless, but sometimes they get the boys in trouble, and occasionally his prank ends up saving the day.

Like Spinner, Bobber is a natural outdoorsman, able to read maps, pitch tents, start campfires, and catch fish.

Through his adventures, Bobber teaches us about friendship, humor, and optimism.

Spinner's Family
Spinner's dad is smart and kind. He is an engineer, who is good at fixing things. He is also on the volunteer White Bear Lake Water Rescue team. Spinner's mom is a bright professional, too.

Spinner's grandpa, known as The Chief, lives right next door. He has taught Spinner a lot about fishing, and a lot about life.

Spinner also has a cool uncle named Pete who has a tricked-out RV that can pull a fishing boat around it, and he takes the boys on fishing adventures around the country.

Bobber's Family
Bobber's dad is fun-loving, creative, and funny. He is a self-employed electronics designer who works from home with two computer monitors and incredible software. He is sometimes a little scatterbrained (which might be where Bobber gets it from), but he's a good guy.

Bobber's mom is a middle school principal, and Bobber has toddler-age twin brothers who can sometimes be a handful.

Although Bobber's household is a bit chaotic and messy at times, it is a house filled with love and humor. Bobber doesn't mind the commotion, and often it helps him out, because he can slip out of the house to fish and play easily.

Coral
Coral is a spunky, outdoorsy girl who lives in the Florida Keys. She knows all the best fishing spots and learned everything she knows about fishing from her dad. Her dad is the park ranger at the Islamorada campgrounds, and Coral often gets to go fishing every day!

Coral is a tough and smart girl who earns Spinner & Bobber's respect through her skill and never-give-up attitude. The three become lifelong friends and keep in touch through letters and emails.
